The Birmingham Museum of Arts has opened an exhibit that highlights the beauty of the South. With great admiration for the South, photographer Lauren Henkin captured fifty photos of Hale County, Alabama. The Birmingham Museum of Arts has selected fifteen of those photos and have made them into the exhibit, What’s Lost is Found.
Henkin’s describes the South as “a region filled with a rich complexity that cannot be explained or dissected.” Though, Henkin’s work extends beyond the South; she has also made a name for herself in several other parts of the country. Her photos have been published in Oxford American and New York Magazine, and she has worked in the Portland Art Museum in Oregon and the Cleveland Museum of Art in Ohio.
The What’s Lost is Found exhibit opened on November 4 and will end on April 30, 2017.
