Signs of Life @ SCAD

The ‘Signs of Life’ show at the Savannah College of Art & Design Museum of Arts exhibits magical artwork by the artist and SCAD alumna Jane Winfield, who graduated from their Master of Fine Arts program in 2012. The opening reception was held on November 10, and the exhibition will be open until December 18.

Winfield takes simple things from our daily lives and turns them into pieces from her own “unique logic.” She describes her way of painting “as liberating as making up your own words.” For example, she uses house paint and spent brush bristles to create her alluring works, and her art also has layers upon layers since she reworks her pieces over longs periods of time.

Jane Winfield’s artwork is something not of this world, so strange and beautiful that it stops the passerby in their tracks making them try to decipher the peculiar art in front of them.
