The NOCCA Institute’s Press Street Gardens

Press Street Gardens “is an urban farm and outdoor learning laboratory funded by The NOCCA Institute, the nonprofit partner of the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts.” According to their website:

We grow fresh vegetables, fruits, and herbs, which are used by NOCCA’s Culinary Arts students in their classroom training.

Recent events have included its first ever Dirt Gala on August 20 and a Mother’s Day bouquet-making brunch last May.  The Dirt Gala was an outdoor event with a variety of activities, food, drinks, and music, including kiddie pools to beat the summer heat, and its purpose was to raise funds to support the gardens’ programs.  For the Mother’s Day event, patrons could choose and buy flowers from the garden, then get assistance with arranging them.
